| Chateau St Jean's Sonoma County Chardonnay uses fruit from all over the county, including the Carneros and Russian River Valley, but fruit from the acclaimed Robert Young vintage plays an integral role again and again. By using fruit from these varied regions, Chateau St Jean is able to make the most of the vintage. The wine is fermented in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak and a bit more than half undergoes malolactic fermentation. Stopping malo in a portion of the wine helps it maintain its acidity and preserve the pear and tropical fruit notes. Creamy on the mid-palate it also shows aromas and flavors of vanilla and clove and finishes clean. This is an excellent everyday wine that is consistent across vintages, making it a great value. |
