Wine Enthusiast 88 pts - Virginia BooneBonterra continues to make great wines at affordable prices, all from organically grown grapes. With blueberry pie and clove predominating, the wine is tannic, super-structured, with a spicy finish. A good deal for sure.
Description:Zinfandel is inextricably tied to Mendocino and stands as a tribute to the rugged Italians who settled this county and the remarkably rustic wines they created. Our Zinfandel is a little more elegant and balanced than those wines, but undeniably Mendocino. We try not to manipulate the wine too much, mainly because the fruit from our exceptional organic vineyards doesn't require it. We do add a little Petite Sirah and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon for added complexity. The wine has aromas of brambly fruit and ripe blueberries accented with hints of toasty oak and vanilla. The characteristically Zinfandel flavors of plum, blueberry and black pepper lead to an elegant, balanced and soft finish.
