The 2007 Alpha Syrah offers an attractive nose of pepper, sage, blueberry, and incense. Concentrated, nicely balanced, and with a 45-second finish, this classy Syrah will profit from 2-3 years of cellaring and offer prime drinking 2011 to 2019.

Alluring, with roasted coffee and vanilla bean notes giving way to a supple, rich palate of dark cherry, mulled currant and blackberry fruit, all pushed by a nicely integrated, loam- and grilled herb-tinged finish.

A consistently high-scoring wine, this version of Alpha Syrah from Montes starts with graham cracker, vanilla, sawdust and coffee aromas on top of sexy, herbal fruit notes. The balanced palate delivers plum and berry fruit but even more vanilla and mocha. Maybe too oaky? Regardless, it's very good Syrah for Chile.

Description:
Of intense ruby red color, it has enchanting floral aromas accompanied by tobacco and leathery notes. On the mouth, it's powerful and full bodied to the palate, with soft and mature tannins and a very long and elegant finish. The up front nose is fruity, black cherries, hints of strawberries, and all well combined with a smoky spiciness, that adds elegance and complexity. The 3% of Viognier adds a nice and delicate floral touch. The oak is well assembled and combined with this strong, soft, velvety wine.
