The Wine Advocate 92 pts - Jay Miller The 2007 Victorino was sourced from 45-year-old vines and aged in new French oak for 18 months. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it is bigger, more structured, and more concentrated than the Almirez but with slightly rustic tannins. Give it 5-7 years and drink it from 2016 to 2027.
Wine Spectator 91 pts - Thomas Matthews Ripe yet focused, this red offers plum, blackberry, espresso and tobacco flavors, with notes of mineral and herb, firm, well-integrated tannins and a fresh finish. A modern style, but restrained. Drink now through 2016. 750 cases imported.
Wine Enthusiast 93 pts - Michael Schachner This is the tier-two wine from the Egurens' new Toro project, and it's stellar. Intense aromas of black fruit, char and mint start it out, and next up come cola, roasted black fruit, clove and cured-meat flavors. Oak is forward now, but it should settle in a year or so. A dynamite Toro to drink from 2011 through 2018.
